FULL RULES AND INFORMATION

Contest is open to individuals who reside in the fifty United States, including the District of Columbia, territories and possession of the United States, and Canada, ages 18 and older. Contestants must be students enrolled full or part time as undergraduate, graduate or post-doctoral. Contest is void where prohibited.

Contestants may work individually or ‘teams’ of up to five individuals (only two winners will receive a trip to the annual conference, allowing up to $600 each roundtrip). Contestants working as a team do not all have to come from the same institution. One person shall be named spokesperson and is responsible for all submissions.

The American Society of Engineering Education invites undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students, attending a public or private college or university, to create a video that answers the question “where do you see engineering education in 25 years?” Imagine that you are faculty or a Dean at a major university and are coming to the ASEE annual conference to present the latest in engineering education. To enter, access the contest website during the official contest period, complete the official entry form and submit it along with the video, Talent Release form(s) and Assignment of Copyright form as directed. Videos can only include authorized content, music, images or film clips. Entries must be successfully submitted no later than 11:59 PM Eastern Time on February 1, 2019.

A qualified committee of judges will select a first, second and third place winner, which will then be posted on the ASEE website and social media pages. There will be a limit of one (1) vote per person. If there is an event of a tie in voting, the tied videos will be judged by our selected committee. Winners will be individually notified by the provided email or telephone no later than April 1, 2019. The selected ASEE judging committee will publicly announce the winners of the contest no later than April 1, 2019.

Each winner will be required to provide a copy of a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or other form of identification and proof of age); evidence of enrollment as a student; a completed and signed Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and a Publicity Release; an assignment to ASEE of all rights of ownership and copyright to the submitted video; and a consent for ASEE to use the video, in whole or in part and as edited by ASEE, in all media for educational, commercial and other uses without additional compensation to or prior review by the winner. Failure to return the required documents in a timely way, or the return of any notification as undeliverable for any reason, will cause the entry to be void and an alternate winner to be selected.

By participating, entrants must agree to these official rules and to the decisions of the judges and ASEE and its agents in all matters, including the voting process, relating to the contest, which decisions shall be final in all respects; release, indemnify and hold harmless ASEE, and their respective directors, officers and employees, from any and all claims, liabilities, losses or damages of any kind whatsoever, including but not limited to the infringement of intellectual property rights of others, resulting in whole or in part from their participation in the contest and the acceptance and use of the prize; consent to the use of their name, likeness and location for advertising and publicity purposes by ASEE, in its sole discretion, of its products and services and for promotion of the importance of protection of intellectual property rights; and represent that the video submitted is their sole and original work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any other party.

In the event that ASEE determines that the integrity of the contest has been impaired or corrupted for any reason and as a result cannot be offered or completed as planned, ASEE reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel or terminate the contest. Dates are subject to change.
